Readers! A November fund-raising drive!

It is unfortunately time for another November fund-raising campaign to support my work here at Behind the Black. I really dislike doing these, but 2025 is so far turning out to be a very poor year for donations and subscriptions, the worst since 2020. I very much need your support for this webpage to survive.

And I think I provide real value. Fifteen years ago I said SLS was garbage and should be cancelled. Almost a decade ago I said Orion was a lie and a bad idea. As early as 1998, long before almost anyone else, I predicted in my first book, Genesis: The Story of Apollo 8, that private enterprise and freedom would conquer the solar system, not government. Very early in the COVID panic and continuing throughout I noted that every policy put forth by the government (masks, social distancing, lockdowns, jab mandates) was wrong, misguided, and did more harm than good. In planetary science, while everyone else in the media still thinks Mars has no water, I have been reporting the real results from the orbiters now for more than five years, that Mars is in fact a planet largely covered with ice.

I could continue with numerous other examples. If you want to know what others will discover a decade hence, read what I write here at Behind the Black. And if you read my most recent book, Conscious Choice, you will find out what is going to happen in space in the next century.

This last claim might sound like hubris on my part, but I base it on my overall track record.

So please consider donating or subscribing to Behind the Black, either by giving a one-time contribution or a regular subscription. I could really use the support at this time. There are five ways of doing so:

1. Zelle: This is the only internet method that charges no fees. All you have to do is use the Zelle link at your internet bank and give my name and email address (zimmerman at nasw dot org). What you donate is what I get.

2. Patreon: Go to my website there and pick one of five monthly subscription amounts, or by making a one-time donation. Takes about a 10% cut.

3. A Paypal Donation or subscription, which takes about a 15% cut:

4. Donate by check. I get whatever you donate. Make the check payable to Robert Zimmerman and mail it to

At House hearings this week witness after witness recounted how the IRS harassment of conservatives continues.

Working for the Democratic Party: At House hearings this week witness after witness have recounted how the IRS harassment of conservatives continues.

“I want to make three primary points here today,” said Mitchell. ”First, the IRS scandal is real. It’s not pretend, it’s real. Number two, the IRS scandal is not just a bone-headed bunch of bureaucrats in some remote office contrary to what the President of the United States told the American People on Sunday. And, number 3, the IRS scandal is not over. It is continuing to this day. And the Department of Justice Investigation is a sham. It is a nonexistent investigation.”

The article also notes that Obama’s claim that there is not a “smidgen of corruption” about this scandal is a lie, especially since the IRS began this story by admitting it had acted improperly in targeting conservatives, and had made this admission after the then IRS head had told Congress that no improper targeting had taken place. (In other words, he lied in sworn testimony to Congress.)

More information about this week’s on-going IRS hearing in the House can be found here. I have also posted below the fold some of the testimony of Cleta Mitchell and Catherine Engelbrecht. Watch it. Their description of the government attacks on conservatives is quite horrifying.

Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The print edition can be purchased at Amazon or from any other book seller. If you want an autographed copy the price is $60 for the hardback and $45 for the paperback, plus $8 shipping for each. Go here for purchasing details. The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

Think about this: These hearings give us revelations into conspiracy by government officials among senior IRS and Treasury Department bureaucrats as well as by those at OSHA, EPA, and the FBI.

Don’t forget the abuses we saw this fall at the WWII monument, Mount Rushmore and Mount Vernon by NPS officers during the “government shutdown” as well and the unending EPA regulations and State Department meddling into the Keystone Pipeline project. This makes Watergate look like amateur hour.

So,…Where are the Pulitzer Prize winning journalists?????????????? Only the sound of crickets chirping is evident.

I hate that this site has turned to such a political flavor , yet It is a Very Serious Topic. These talks here and Elsewhere reminds me of quiet personal talks conducted in Russia 20 some odd years ago

There are many topics we all wish we could pursue instead: movies, literature, the Olympics, other sports, our families, the wonders of the natural world. But our beloved country is under assault by a band of criminals. Yes, criminals. They break our laws on a daily basis, lie with straight faces and arrogant postures, steal the fruits of the labors of honest men and women, and aspire to control every aspect of our lives. We cannot remain silent about this. We must fight back. If not, America is doomed.

I think the word in 2014 you are looking for is “Reparations”, that is the justification in the minds of the liberal / Marxist / the Obama true believers for the destruction of the America we know. Longer term I believe that this has the potential to shake out where America is stronger rather than weaker, the things that are going on today as an extension of the last 60 years of social policy will in time be proven to be fraudulent and must be rejected.

I agree, The United states is stronger than any group of Chicago gangsters. (Whatever happened to Tony Rezko?) The constitution WILL survive much to the dismay of this bunch, and we will be stronger for it. My prediction is that this presidency will result in Progressive Marxism being exposed as the failure that it always must be. Eventually progressivism will be totally rejected by western civilization ushering in a new renaissance age dominated by some form of libertarian capitalism. Unfortunately, there are still a large number of United Stations (the proper term) who can’t or won’t see the danger until they have personally been harmed. The “nudge” isn’t working, and they are starting to “shove”. Soon they will progress (pun intended) to “shoot” I weep for my children and fear that I and many others will not be around to see the new dawning of enlightenment once this feverish holdover from the twentieth century is vanquished. But I draw hope and strength from the belief that this is all part of God’s plan.

You are spot on PeterF. The geniuses who founded this country knew this day could come and allowed for its remedy in the constitution under Article 5. All people ultimately yearn for liberty and happiness and socialism under its many guises has and will ALWAYS fail epicly.

All very nice sentiments and hopes. However, it is based on the idea that there are at least enough lawmakers and those in power that actually believe in the the COTUS and the spirit of law. I have not seen a shred of evidence in the last 50 years to support that premise. Thomas Jefferson said , for a very good reason, that the “tree of Liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants” every 20 yrs or so…

And so you see the emergence (and villification) of the Tea Party, the peoples response to to the abuses of those politicians you identify.
