On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.
The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.
The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.
"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

The Russians have a “warranty” for their equipment in space? Is that express or implied? Bob, that was really funny . .. :-D
t-dub: It is implied, and something the Russians themselves stand by. In negotiations the Russians can be very difficult and sometimes ugly, but if you stand up to them and make a deal, they have consistently honored the deals, very precisely. (God forbid however you don’t make the language airtight, because they will use such gaps without mercy.)
In the case of ISS, their part of the partnership has always included providing transportation and lifeboat services. For their capsule to fail damages their national pride, and so they always act to fix the issue, as promptly as they can. Moreover, they care about their own astronauts. That lifeboat is also essential for them..
Bob, as usual an excellent answer. I was using a bit of sarcasm there as I spent my entire career in the automotive industry, most of it in luxury brands. So when you said that I just kinda busted out laughing . . . :-) YMMV . . .
t-dub: My own experience in Moscow interviewing Russians for Leaving Earth taught me much about them. There are times you simply have to scream and shout at them to get them to take you seriously.
I have no experience with Russians, or their automobiles, thank goodness from what I have heard. I prefer vanilla, Japanese, luxury. I have worked with the best and will settle for no less. Thank goodness in this new “age” of EVs and so much climate BS etc that I have been retired for a bit.
