French and American studies find drug that can treat COVID-19

It isn’t a vaccine that will prevent infection, but tests in France and in the U.S. now show that a drug normally used to treat malaria is very effective in reducing the symptoms of the Wuhan virus.

He said that the first Covid-19 patients he had treated with the drug chloroquine had seen a rapid and effective speeding up of their healing process, and a sharp decrease in the amount of time they remained contagious.

Chloroquine – which is normally used mainly to prevent and treat malaria – was administered via the named drug, Plaquenil.

The drug is readily available and can be prescribed to anyone who is considered threatened by the virus to help them get better why reducing the chances of them giving it to others.

Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

Not only can it be used to help people recover from the virus but its even better to be using Chloroquine, or its near relative Hydroxychloroquine, as a prophylactic (preventative) measure against COVID-19. In fact people who know they are going to visit areas where there is a high risk of contracting malaria are told to start taking the drug a few weeks before they travel.

A paper released by Stanford University on March 13, 2020 has all the details and is definitly worth reading.

    t-dub:
    good stuff.

    “Treatment Guidelines from South Korea
1-If patients are young, healthy, and have mild symptoms without underlying conditions, doctors can observe them without antiviral treatment.
    2-If more than 10 days have passed since the onset of the illness and the symptoms are mild, physicians do not have to start an antiviral medication;
3-However, if patients are old or have underlying conditions with serious symptoms, physicians should consider an antiviral treatment. If they decide to use the antiviral therapy, they should start the administration as soon as possible:
… chloroquine 500mg orally per day.
4-As chloroquine is not available in Korea, doctors could consider hydroxychloroquine 400mg orally per day.”

    “Treatment Guidelines from China
    .
    .
    .
    4. Antiviral therapies:
… chloroquine phosphate (adult 18-65 years old weighing more than 50kg: 500mg twice daily for 7 days; bodyweight less than 50kg: 500mg twice daily for day 1 and 2, 500mg once daily for day 3 through 7).”

Not saying this is our salvation, but I suspect our Federal government is instead, going to blow trillions of dollars on stupid stuff.
–this is cheap, easily mass produced, and we have 75 years of real-world experience with this drug.
[a major side effect is blindness. HOWEVER, that does not begin an issue until one has consumed 400 GRAMS cumulative dosing]

According to some Vietnam veterans, the toilet paper hoarders will look like geniuses if Cloroquine is made readily available due to certain side effects.

    Typo alert

“why reducing the chances of them giving it to others.”

    why = while?

  • t-dub

John, diarrhea is a possible side effect, however, you are more likely to have that issue if you are already infected and have to start right at the 500 mg dose like Wayne showed above in the South Korean protocol. I bet the army did something similar.

If you start taking it as a preventative, like I mentioned in my first post, then you will have the luxury of starting with a much smaller dose and slowly ramp it up (titrate) thus giving your body time to adjust. For example, some people that are preparing to travel to malaria areas will start the drug a few weeks before they go, taking smaller doses for maybe 1 or 2 days a week and slowly increase the dose and frequency. Obviously this should be done under a doctors supervision only.

  • sippin_bourbon

For some, it will always have that effect. My dad took it weekly in Nam. They took it as a unit, to enforce the order. About 30 mins later, latrines were all taken.

Some did okay with itt. Others not so much. Your mileage may vary.

I looked on line. It looks like all malarial meds can do this.
I only had issues the first few weeks, then was switched to doxycycline. Less issues.

  • Ian C.

They’re also testing Chloroquin in Germany next week. China and Italy apply it since a couple of weeks but the results (on humans) are inconclusive so far.

Another one we should watch is Favipiravir:

    Watching the daily briefing—
Trump specifically mentioned chloroquine, so they are on top of it.
[prediction: 2 years from now, we’ll see Class Action lawsuit adverts for this.]

  • t-dub

Wayne, you made me laugh out loud with that one . . :-)

Its hard to tell what is going on because Trump said it was FDA approved for use in COVID-19 cases. Then 20 minutes later an FDA spokesperson contradicted the president’s claim that the agency had approved a malaria medicine for the treatment of Covid-19 . . . so who knows . . .

    NATURE, NUTURE OR AGENDA?

China and America have been in a frenmy kind of situation for some time now. America’s government and its corporate players have rushed over the last 50 years or $o to fill with our industry the cheap labor market vacuum that is the country of China. This American seeking cheap labor strategy pumped into a Communist country who has been more than willing to absorb both those industries and the resulting monies into their coffers and those technologies and build a mighty economy and military has its natural costs. And we are experiencing those costs today.

Our relationship with the Chinese has for some time appeared to be symbiotic (Mutually beneficial) but you should never do as we have done and become so dependent on what we can all admit is a natural enemy of America. Which does not mean that we should not do business with a Communist country but it must be done within rational thinking. We have not been rational, we have been in search of the lowest cost of production only. A Chink in our armor you might say. (Pun intended :)

And the only thing that has been accomplished is we have enriched our American corporations, which in its self is not a sin, we are Capitalists after all. No harm no foul IMO. But when things are allowed and encouraged even by government and corporate leaders to shift soooo much of our American capacity and technology into such a country the resulting effects are many and they are negative. America has enriched and empowered China to a degree that they have been encouraged to think in ways that are counter to our American world leadership model interests. Who could blame them?

So while America has been enriched by low cost of goods, the Chinese have been enriched and empowered to build new cities with the accompanying infrastructure and build their military capacity and abilities with the intent of world domination. And this well known plan of Chinese world domination is dependent on America and its powerful financial system and being the world default currency and its prime directive of freedom and private property for its population being curtailed and even ended.

With the result being a Globalist type agenda put forward by the likes of a George Soros, who spends billion’s of his private monies on his dream of Globalism and the “adjustment” of our Constitution. If you have read anything that I have written on the subject you know that IMO the Chinese MUST have the Sorosian / Globalist dream of a One World Government / New World Order in order for them to dominate. Its a simple chess strategy, America as formulated with its Constitution must go. These world domination plans by the Chinese come with some very negative implications and the balance that must be attained that does not kill the golden goose is a difficult to achieve.

So what have the Chinese been up to in the interim? They have been stock piling Gold in order to when the right time presents itself they would become the default currency of the world and there by dominate the planet as the American financial model collapsed and the Globalist model took hold. Its a good rational and strategic thought process for the Chinese. My read anyway.

From a pre Trump, 2016 article on Gold: How much Gold do the Chinese have? “The Chinese now report the figure every month at the behest of the IMF, but the figure has to be taken with a large pinch of salt. I find it impossible to believe that a country that has increased it’s gold imports, solely from Hong Kong by 700% since 2010 only has 1797 tonnes of gold in its vaults. An educated guess would be closer to 3500 tonnes as reported by Bloomberg Intelligence, and even that may be well below the real figure. ”

Read the rest of the article, its short and very interesting. https://www.certifiedgoldexchange.com/how-much-gold-does-china-really-posses/

And what is it we have today going on? American and world financial destruction and stock market crash due to a world wide virus contagion that is said to have emerged from China. Perfectly timed for the most negative effect specifically for Trump by the way. (Trump’s America first model destroys the Globalist / Chinese agenda for world domination and so it is very much in the Chinese interests that he go) And the Chinese allege that the virus emerged from an American military disruption operation and not from the Chinese “wet market”. Which is true? Both powers and credible people present plausible scenarios. Which is true and which is spin?

We, the public, really can never know for sure which is true because either is possible, and a third scenario is possible. And all are reasonable and plausible. In Strategy Over Morality (S.O.M.) it is in the Chinese long term interests to push the world into a financial disaster area, which has the very real potential to take Trump out and so it emerges as the dominant source for capital in the world, I.E their stock pile of Gold. Do you really think a Biden administration will stand strong against the Chinese? Never. The Chinese just like the Ukraine invested heavily in Joe Biden for what he could provide both in protection and future “services” should he become president.

And its in the American interests for the Chinese economy to be devastated and pushed over the edge just enough and for the American vulnerability to the current established production paradigm and growing military threat and transfer of wealth that has been allowed to foster by previous administrations that benefits too much the Chinese world domination model. And to repatriate those essential American industries that threaten our sovereignty and independence and world leadership. Two very real and plausible rationales for all of the marbles, long term. Both state interests need their model to prevail or at least dominate. And to be clear, if true, this is a long term game and who gets financially wounded or who’s people die in the short term is of no concern to this level of player.

And maybe however what is under way at the moment in the world is a third scenario. This viral contagion is just an evolutionary biological function of a natural condition of a poorly kept Chinese market that sweeps through humanity indiscriminately without agenda until it runs out of gas. But you must admit, its perfectly timed to potentially remove Trump from office, you just can not choose to not see that. (By the way, I do not believe that will be the end result here, IMO Trump will rise to the occasion and again prevail in our American interests. To the great consternation of both the Chinese and the Democrat party leadership.) Then who emerges in the best condition is the leadership that is best prepared for such extreme situations.

I think you know who I am rooting for.

(You know I’m right about the class action lawsuits! The drug is off-patent, but the US government has deep pockets, ya know?!)

Ref Trump & the briefing– yeah, I noticed that. What I’ve learned with Trump– he’s always to be taken seriously but not necessarily literally.

Is quinine available over the counter over there? It is not here in Sweden, I’m not sure about the UK, but I’m sure I remember it is in one of the country’s I have friends in…. It might be an idea to (following the directions) invest in a box or 2…

  • t-dub

Lee, “investing” in a box or two is called hoarding if you don’t need the drug. And no, malaria drugs are not available over the counter in the US. They have serious side effects and should only be used under a doctor’s supervision. Because I am in the highest risk category, I have an autoimmune disease and take drugs to suppress my immune system, is why I have been talking to my doctor about possibly using chloroquine phosphate as a preventative NOT quinine. So far we are not going there but people in this country are getting prescriptions and are hoarding this drug making it unavailable for those who need it. We can’t make a lot of this drug because the Chinese control the supply of the ingredients. Interestingly enough, they also control the supply of circuit boards for ventilators.
