On the radio…
Just a reminder that I will be doing a long appearance on The Space Show tonight with David Livingston, beginning at 7 pm (Pacific).
As usual I beg my readers to call in. The show is always more interesting when people call.
On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.
The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.
The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.
"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

For those who missed The Space Show, here are the questions emailed by Anton to Dr. Space for Bob to ponder:
In your opinion, what should be the role of NASA’s Chief Scientist?
Your last book Conscious Choice had a considerable amount of historical research into early American History. What informs your view of modern America and its role in the world? (Bob discussed his book but the second part of this second question was not addressed as it would delve too far into the political which Dr. Space tries to avoid.)
This followup question was then asked which is a ‘historical & non-political’ variation of the above second question:
“Will it make much of a long term historical difference whether it’s an American crew or a Chinese crew that next lands on the moon, as long as many countries eventually get there?”
And of course both Bob and Dr. David Livingston provided an interesting discussion.
Original Mark: I will be posting the link to the podcast as soon as David sends it to me, which should be tomorrow morning. Then all of my readers can listen to that very interesting discussion.
Mr. Z. – by the way those questions were my bonsella to BtB. I appreciated how warmly you answered.
