Fifty mortars fired into Israel from Gaza, injuring two; Israeli military responses

Fifty mortars fired into Israel from Gaza, injuring two; Israeli military responses.

This is from Gaza, remember, a place that Israel unilaterally retreated from several years ago, leaving it entirely to the Palestinians. By what justification then do they have to continue to fire missiles into Israel, unless their real goal is simply to kill Jews?

David Horowitz Takes on Muslim Students at Brooklyn College

So who are the real hate-mongers here? David Horowitz speaks at Brooklyn College while under heavy security. To me, the key quote is this:

Mr. Horowitz began by ruefully observing, โ€œWhen I went to college you didnโ€™t need all of this security on campus, but things have changed and thatโ€™s the reason we now need checkpoints on campuses. Checkpoints are essential to defend against terrorists and Jew haters.โ€ Adding that he has been verbally and physically assaulted on campuses around the country for his forthright views, he said, โ€œOur campuses are controlled by liberal fascists and it is a movement to suppress the free speech rights of conservatives.”

New NPR video

A new NPR video from James O’Keefe: This time NPR executives are shown arranging an anonymous donation from the Muslim Brotherhood front group, in direct contradiction to their official claims after the first video was released that โ€œThe fraudulent organization represented in this video repeatedly pressed us to accept a $5 million check, with no strings attached, which we repeatedly refused to accept.โ€

Jewish student sues UC Berkeley for not protecting her

A Jewish student has sued the University of California Berkeley for not protecting her against harassment and violence. Key quote:

The complaint alleges that the Students for Justice in Palestine and the Muslim Student Association, another pro-Palestinian group on campus, harass and attack Jewish students, and that the university knows about it and has not taken sufficient steps to protect its Jewish students. The complaint further charges that university officials have tolerated โ€œthe growing cancer of a dangerous anti-Semitic climate on its campusesโ€ that violates the rights of Jewish and other students โ€œto enjoy a peaceful campus environment free from threats and intimidation.โ€

Austrian Court fines speaker for describing Islam accurately

Bad news for freedom: An Austrian court today convicted Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff for speaking out against Islam. Key quote:

It seems the case turned on the judgeโ€™s reasoning that her statement that Islamโ€™s prophet Mohammed was a โ€œpedophileโ€ was defamatory since his child bride Aisha (age six at the time of marriage and nine at the time it was consummated) remained his wife when she turned 18.

Egyptians brace for Friday protests as internet, messaging disrupted

The triumph of freedom: Protests spread to Egypt and Jordan.

We should recognize that though the overthrow of these Middle East dictatorships is certainly not a bad thing, the regimes that replace them are very likely not going to be much better, and could very well be worse. However, the free flow of information in the Arab world can only be a good thing, and in the long run can only lead to freedom and peace between nations.

the real hijackers of Islam

More on the tolerance of Islam and that assassination of a Pakistani governor because he opposed Islamic blasphemy laws. Key quote:

Specifically, [Governor] Taseer was supportive of a Christian woman, Asia Bibi, who has been sentenced to death for โ€œinsulting Muhammad.โ€ Bibi had offered some fellow farm laborers some water. They refused to drink it because Christian hands purportedly make water unclean. An argument followed. She defended her faith, which they took as synonymous with attacking theirs. Later, she says, a mob of her accusers raped her.

Naturally, a Pakistani judge sentenced her to hang for blasphemy.

And Governor Taseer, who bravely visited her and sympathized with her plight, had 40 bullets pumped into him by one of his own bodyguards.

As one commenter to my previous post on this story noted, “If they praise murder, whatโ€™s next? What kind of religion is this?”
