Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The print edition can be purchased at Amazon. from any other book seller, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

Despite fading epidemic governments vow to maintain lockdowns

Graph of U.S. deaths day to day through September 21, 2020

The lockdowns will never end: Despite the continuing and steady decline in COVID-19 deaths and cases, most state governments are vowing to maintain their lockdowns and mask mandates, some forever or until a vaccine is found.

Numerous high-ranking public authorities throughout the United States have pledged to continue enforcing COVID-19 restrictions — including social distancing rules and mask mandates — even as cases of and deaths attributed to the virus continue a steady two-month decline throughout the country.

Those officials have signaled that the restrictions will not be lifted unless and until an effective vaccine is developed, approved, distributed throughout the country and utilized by enough of the population to create functional herd immunity.

The graph to the right, compiled from this source, shows clearly that the epidemic is fading, and even at its peak never came even close to the terrifying predictions, all now proven to be wrong, of a lot of health officials and junk modeling scientists.

In fact, the numbers continue to show that coronavirus is really nothing more than a bad flu. Like the flu, it is relatively harmless to the young and healthy, who either will show no symptoms from it at all, or might get sick for a week or so and then recover completely. And like the flu, it is only really dangerous to the old and sick, who already have serious health problems which make them vulnerable to any new illness.

Note too that the average age at death from COVID-19 is about 78 years old, which is also identical to the average age expectancy of Americans. In other words, the disease did little to change the number of deaths at all. Even if there were excess deaths this year, they were not much more than we’ve had in previous bad flu seasons, and those additional deaths had no effect on the general population.

For such a disease, you do what we have done for centuries, you protect the weak, and let everyone else live their lives normally. We did not do this this time, and are now suffering from it.

Worse, too many people seem unwilling to accept the reality that the epidemic is ending. Instead, they get outraged by anyone who even suggests such a thing. They have fallen in love with their fear, and want to embrace it, forcing masks and restrictions on everyone forever, just so that they have a false sense of safety.

Unfortunately too many of our fascist governors and health bureaucrats have decided to take full advantage of that panicky fear and use it to gain more power over everyone. As it is said, power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. For the past six months we have seen a perfect demonstration of this.

Please consider supporting my work here at Behind the Black. Your support allows me the freedom and ability to analyze objectively the ongoing renaissance in space, as well as the cultural changes -- for good or ill -- that are happening across America. Fourteen years ago I wrote that SLS and Orion were a bad ideas, a waste of money, would be years behind schedule, and better replaced by commercial private enterprise. Only now does it appear that Washington might finally recognize this reality.

In 2020 when the world panicked over COVID I wrote that the panic was unnecessary, that the virus was apparently simply a variation of the flu, that masks were not simply pointless but if worn incorrectly were a health threat, that the lockdowns were a disaster and did nothing to stop the spread of COVID. Only in the past year have some of our so-called experts in the health field have begun to recognize these facts.

We have a mask mandate here in Colorado. I find it very heartening that in the more rural part of the state where I work almost no one wears masks. I wonder if people think they actually work, or they just love the new social custom. Maybe it makes people feel like they have a purpose. Maybe if it just saves one life! If that is their thinking, then maybe they should stop driving. Far more likely to kill someone in a car than with a cough.

Question I have is…. With all the new cases, what is the hospital load? Are they being swamped? I know the major medical complex where I live is running at full speed with the normal surgeries, doc visits, etc.

People did this same thing when we realized that we were saved from global warming, a decade ago. The global temperature stopped rising after the world passed the Kyoto agreement and the U.S. actually reduced its CO2 output to below Kyoto levels. However, rather than cheer, everyone was calling it a “pause” and trying to find places where the heat might be “hiding.” When that search failed, the experts “recalibrated” instruments and fudged past data in order to make it look like we still have rising temperatures. Few people were willing to believe that the problem was gone, and the experts and scientists were willing to fudge the data in order to prolong the perception of having a problem.

People seem to love their problems and are not so eager for actual solutions so that we can move on to solve the next problem. No wonder we have had the poor among us for so many millennia.

These days we are dealing with a faux disease, treating it as a plague rather than the flu that it is, and our governors aren’t even serious about protecting us, as they actively and intentionally sent ailing patients into nursing homes, where tens of thousands died.

Instead, our fearful leaders “protect” the resilient and endangering the vulnerable, to hell with the consequences. That they keep up the worst possible reactions to the flu, and that many people defend these worst possible reactions, informs us that too many of us are no longer eager to be a free people.

    What a cluster bleep.

The best use of the masks appeared to me today. It was used as a chinstrap! Stopped beard hairs falling into the food.

But what!? Everyone who doesn’t support Donald Trump claim that 200 000 000 have died by Covid-19! Their presidential candidate Joe Biden said so in his speech today/yesterday, so it must be true.

COVID19 Flu will suddenly and mysteriously cease to be a “threat” to regular people after November.

    For some strange reason…?

The guest on Coast to Coast tonight said; the leading vaccine makes most people sick with 1/2 a dose. A full dose makes 100% of the volunteers to have side effects, some severe.
It has already been reported, there will be no vaccine ready this year.
The guest also said that there are 30 variations of COVID-19 now. The strain has weakened considerably.

  • Climate

Doctor OZ said don’t take the vaccine ! and then was cut off from the interview. LOL. hummm….

I wonder why they fired this guy from his job? Fauci didn’t like him anymore?

    https://www.thedailybeast.com/redstate-covid-troll-streiff-is-actually-bill-crews-and-he-actually-works-for-dr-anthony-fauci

Here’s some cherry picked paragraphs from the article…

“But that writer, who goes by the pseudonym “streiff,” isn’t just another political blogger. The Daily Beast has discovered that he actually works in the public affairs shop of the very agency that Fauci leads.”

“the closures of businesses and other public establishments and the promotion of social distancing and mask-wearing. Those policies, Crews insists, have no basis in science and are simply surreptitious efforts to usurp Americans’ rights, destroy the U.S. economy, and damage President Donald Trump’s reelection effort.”
” we are at a point where it is safe to say that the entire Wuhan virus scare was nothing more or less than a massive fraud perpetrated upon the American people by ‘experts’ who were determined to fundamentally change the way the country lives and is organized and governed,” Crews wrote in a June post on RedState.”
“This whole thing has been a total fraud, insofar as the policy response to Wuhan virus, from day one,” he wrote in June. “There has never been a need for a lockdown. There has never been a need for wearing masks.”

Lots of great quotes from a guy who worked for Fauci. It will give you something to smile about this morning. And remember, if you’re going to talk about your boss, don’t do it on your work computer…

COVID19 Flu will suddenly and mysteriously cease to be a “threat” to regular people after November.

Yes!! This is all a conspiracy to take down Trump! All 50 states are in on it. Every one of the 191 countries who have lost citizens to this virus is in on it. Britain, India, Brazil, Peru, South Africa — they’re all in on it! The entire world is killing its own citizens just to make Trump look bad!!!!

How could I have been so blind?

Sheesh! Do you guys ever step back and look at what you’re typing?

  • Cotour

    The virus is real.

    The deaths are real.

    The fear is real.

    The lock downs are real.

    The mandates are real.

However the degree that this current situation is being leveraged by the media and the political realm players in order to discredit and diminish Trump is also real. I expect the degree that it is used will diminish after the election.

Less if Trump wins, which IMO is the more likely result.

And if Biden is elected? Could go either way. “Experts” (From the WHO) may tell him to shut the entire country down just like Australia. And he will do as he is told.

So their is no formal conspiracy as you intimate and reject, but there is an unspoken kind of conspiracy, much like the Lois Learner / IRS situation when she just knew what needed to be done for Obama and “The cause” but no one needed to tell her what to do.

    They are all good soldiers.

  • Edward

    mkent,
According to the Democrats, the whole world hates Trump, so it is relatively easy to believe that the whole world would join a conspiracy to defeat him. Don’t you want him defeated, too?

By the way, when you exaggerate by suggesting “All 50 states” are in lockdown, shutdown, mask mandate, etc. and that all countries have killed their own people just to hurt Trump, you hurt your argument. By over exaggerating, you make the supposed conspiracy seem more reasonable than the conspiracy theorists do. You have me leaning toward a worldwide conspiracy, with people like you trying too hard to hide its existence. if it doesn’t exist, then why work so very hard to hide it?

I would just interject at this point– we didn’t do the current draconian-stuff, for polio, and…the Salk vaccine was field-tested on 2 million children.

The Covid Panic in the US press is already starting to go away. Half the mentions today than this day last week.
    Why?

    Oh yeh!!
Trump is putting another Supreme court justice in. The only way to stop him is to get the media to scream loud enough for the normal politician to get scared and stop.
Trump will NOT flinch on this one.
But they will drop everything by the end of the week and constantly make the SC the news of the day. Covid panic will fade away.
Its not a conspiracy by the people or the governments, but it is a conspiracy to influence Trump by the MSM.

  • pzatchok

As soon as covid goes away in the daily news it will be forgotten by the governments of the world and things will go back to our old normal.

Governments can not survive with out the taxes that are being either not made and collected now or even spent away to “fight” this virus.

Things will go back real fast when the states find out the US federal government will not be bailing them out with free cash.
