ABL leases space at Port of Los Angeles
Capitalism in space: The rocket startup ABL has now leased space at the Port of Los Angeles for “spacecraft processing” and cargo shipment.
Included in the five-year lease is a 25,000-square-foot integration and payload processing facility, 20,000-square-foot warehouse space, and a 13,000-square-foot office space. The location, previously occupied by rocket launching ship company Sea Launch, will be used by ABL for a range of operations including vehicle processing, payload integration, and maritime operations supporting the company’s launch facilities around the world.
This deal comes on top of ABL’s announcement earlier this week that it has raised an addition $200 million in investment capital, and is planning its first launch in mid-December.
Readers!
Please consider supporting my work here at Behind the Black. Your support allows me the freedom and ability to analyze objectively the ongoing renaissance in space, as well as the cultural changes -- for good or ill -- that are happening across America. Fourteen years ago I wrote that SLS and Orion were a bad ideas, a waste of money, would be years behind schedule, and better replaced by commercial private enterprise. Only now does it appear that Washington might finally recognize this reality.
In 2020 when the world panicked over COVID I wrote that the panic was unnecessary, that the virus was apparently simply a variation of the flu, that masks were not simply pointless but if worn incorrectly were a health threat, that the lockdowns were a disaster and did nothing to stop the spread of COVID. Only in the past year have some of our so-called experts in the health field have begun to recognize these facts.
Your help allows me to do this kind of intelligent analysis. I take no advertising or sponsors, so my reporting isn't influenced by donations by established space or drug companies. Instead, I rely entirely on donations and subscriptions from my readers, which gives me the freedom to write what I think, unencumbered by outside influences.
You can support me either by giving a one-time contribution or a regular subscription. There are four ways of doing so:

I’m not sure I’d be counting on the reliability of the Port of Los Angeles for the foreseeable future
Since the truckers aren’t moving the containers fast enough, maybe rockets will help
Want to buy the port of Los Angeles?
“A transaction may value the terminal at $2 billion or more”
https://www.ttnews.com/articles/owner-terminal-port-los-angeles-explores-sale
The Chinese own most of the other ports, why not own them all?
The problem at the ports is getting worse, not better. As new complications from government regulations prevent efficient management… The administration just doubles down.
“The new charges are part of an effort by the ports, developed in coordination with the Biden Administration.”
“The charges will begin November 1, at which point carriers with cargo falling in those categories will be charged $100 per container, increasing by $100 increments each day beyond the allotted times.”
https://gcaptain.com/ports-of-los-angeles-and-long-beach-to-begin-charging-ocean-carriers-for-excessive-container-dwell-times-at-terminals/
They’re also going to allow them to start stacking the containers over 2 high, to 4 high.
https://gcaptain.com/effective-immediately-and-set-to-last-for-90-days-long-beach-eases-container-rules/
(New apartments in Salt Lake City are stacked 6 high for a living space)

I had a good laugh when I heard the current administration claim that the “bottleneck at the ports was because we have such a good economy that people are buying too much stuff from China”.
Like all crisis of recent memory, “you never let one go to waste”
Every crisis is an opportunity, an evil, oligarch pretending to be a beneficent politician, Will create a crisis just to solve the problem with your next step into slavery. 1984 is not a warning to them, but a roadmap.
What will become of this port crisis? Perhaps a New in land port in Utah as a new smuggling center where duties and bribes are not so much money.

The local politicians are a wash in new donations and are very excited to receive the bribes. They just changed the way we vote, leaving party affiliation off the ballot. They also adopted the same voting system as used in all the blue states. Utah is 90% conservative but will be blue in the next election they promise… Or else!
This just happened yesterday, a politician doing the right thing resigned because of death threats and harassment to his family. The Democrats are not ashamed, but actually throw a party! One was heard saying that they found a way to get rid of all the Republicans in the legislature.

Soon the gangs and cartels will be running our state by threats and intimidation. Our elections are becoming more like Mexico’s where the person elected… is the survivor!
Here is an idea: have patriots tow empty containers to the end of Trump-wall and finish the job. Send Wal-Mart the bill.
