More Obamacare website problems

On the final weekend before the deadline to sign up for health insurance, the Obamacare website had a serious technical problem that prevented some people from completing their enrollment.

After you read the description below of the problem, I dare you to tell me you that we are now better off with this law:

Some people trying to get coverage hadn’t been able to get their income information electronically verified. That’s crucial because the amount of financial assistance to help pay premiums is based on people’s income.

The health care law offers health insurance to people who don’t have coverage on the job. More than 8 in 10 of those who apply qualify for help. Without it, most can’t afford the coverage. The IRS handles income verification for the HealthCare.gov website. In a statement, Hill said the problem was due to issues with “external verification sources.”

The glitch seemed to affect people with new applications. People who previously submitted their income details — but hadn’t completed the final step of picking a plan — were still able to do so.

This is a wonderful example of finding out what’s in it. The law makes the process of getting health insurance so difficult and complex, with so many different hands in the process, that it is literally impossible for problems and “glitches” (oh how I hate the bureaucratic word) not to happen. Either something is going to go wrong, or you will have to wait forever to get everyone to agree to the process.

But don’t worry. That it doesn’t work is irrelevant. It was the good intentions of Obama and the Democrats that really matter. Who cares if their ideas are stupid, unworkable, or foolish? They care!

Genesis cover

On Christmas Eve 1968 three Americans became the first humans to visit another world. What they did to celebrate was unexpected and profound, and will be remembered throughout all human history. Genesis: the Story of Apollo 8, Robert Zimmerman's classic history of humanity's first journey to another world, tells that story, and it is now available as both an ebook and an audiobook, both with a foreword by Valerie Anders and a new introduction by Robert Zimmerman.

The ebook is available everywhere for $5.99 (before discount) at amazon, or direct from my ebook publisher, ebookit. If you buy it from ebookit you don't support the big tech companies and the author gets a bigger cut much sooner.

The audiobook is also available at all these vendors, and is also free with a 30-day trial membership to Audible.

"Not simply about one mission, [Genesis] is also the history of America's quest for the moon... Zimmerman has done a masterful job of tying disparate events together into a solid account of one of America's greatest human triumphs."--San Antonio Express-News

I just can’t wait for this medical martial law to really ramp up. When rationing kicks in the “herd mentality” people will scream that they shouldn’t have to pay for your health insurance if you make poor choices that squander precious government resources. I see government testing for excess salt, high fructose corn syrup, nicotine, cannabis, vaccine noncompliance, and just about anything else they want in order to deny benefits to people.

Lets be optimistic and try to imagine that this un Constitutional Liberal / Marxist attempt at destroying the middle class of America in order to redistribute their wealth and limit their freedom of choice pile of Obamacare crap will in the end be the catalyst that forces both sides in power to come to a market based solution where the people retain ownership of those funds and their freedom.

Republican Congress and Republican president make it so!

Obama in the end will serve his purpose on this subject and let him and those like him be the long term lesson for the American people and the Republican party who have both dropped the baton for the past 30 or so years.

You couldn’t design a worse health care system if you tried. Unless of course, this was their intention.

Wow! Here is an interesting headline I just read that points out the stupidity and hypocrisy of the left:

When They Have to Pay, ‘Liberal’ College Students Suddenly Revolt Against Obamacare-Like Health Fees

“Cornell University students are up in arms over a $350 student health fee that will be assessed to any student who doesn’t buy the university’s health insurance, Casey Breznick, editor-in-chief of the Cornell conservative student paper the Cornell Review, wrote on Legal Insurrection Saturday.

He also noted that Cornell’s fee resembles a national program: the Affordable Care Act’s penalty for those who don’t purchase health insurance.”

#FightTheFee . . . the little libs are getting a math lesson. Free stuff isn’t really free.

Oh, they fully intended it to be the way it is, this is the road to the wonderful single payer system. I say we the American people must clear away the fog of BS that has been put in the air by the Left and complicit Republicans and restructure this POS to the peoples advantage and not the wealth redistribution governments advantage.

This can only be accomplished with a proper Constitutionally based Conservative leader in the presidency leading the Congress and the people to the proper resolution.

Obama and his followers in a nut shell (with the best of intentions of course): Wild Pigs – A Reminder For All

A thought to remember, Marx said, “Remove one freedom per generation and soon you will have no freedom and no one would have noticed.”

There was a chemistry professor in a large college that had some exchange students in the class.

One day while the class was in the lab, the professor noticed one young man, an exchange student, who kept rubbing his back and stretching as if his back hurt. The professor asked the young man what was the matter.

The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country’s government and install a new communist regime.

In the midst of his story, he looked at the professor and asked a strange question.

He asked: “Do you know how to catch wild pigs?”

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line.

The young man said that it was no joke. “You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come every day to eat the free food.

“When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence.

“They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side.

“The pigs, which are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat that free corn again. You then slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd.

Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.”

The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening in America. The government keeps pushing us toward Communism/Socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tax exemptions, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare entitlements, medicine, drugs, etc., while we continually lose our freedoms, just a little at a time.

One should always remember two truths:

There is no such thing as a free lunch, and you can never hire someone to provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself.

You make too much sense Cotour! great story!

Cotour, That is better than the boiling frog analogy (people refuse to believe that cold blooded creatures adapt to their surrounding temperatures, so they deny that a frog can be slowly boiled without jumping out of the pot).

Also, I think that Obamacare is not quite as they had intended. I doubt that they intended to expose the complete incompetence of government *before* a single-payer system was instituted.

I saw a news report stating that over $1 BILLION has been spent on the Obamacare websites (the federal site + the various state websites).

    Over $1 BILLION.

  • Cotour

Hubris usually gets the arrogant and egocentric every time, and Obama and his true believers certainly do not disappoint in this regard.

  • Cotour

Thats called a government works program so don’t go implying that there are no cost controls or concern for how the tax payers money is spent and in what quantity. Just like when you think of a cut, you might dial things back 5 or 10 % depending on the severity of the situation. In government speak a cut actually means spend what you spent last year and only increase your spending for this year by 10 percent not by the 20 percent that you had planned.

Thats called a 10 percent cut and that is whats called progressive thinking. Party affiliation not relevant, the more a Congressman or Senator is able to spend in their district the better, thats called a government works project. Its kind of like how Nancy Pelosi explains food stamps and un employment, those two activities actually
produce income and add to the GDP in their hand book.

The American people and its government have gone EFN nuts! Give me a sane take care of business person to lead the country and the world out of this stupid, self hating and self destructive path!

Scott Walker, Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, anyone older than these three potential candidates unless they are a rock solid no nonsense Conservative must be rejected by the people regardless of how much money their family name or a phone call by their daddy can raise.
