While stationed on Guam in 1976, typhoon Pamela (cat 5) crossed the island. We were just inside the eye wall, and had gale-force winds for 30 hours, including 23 inches of rain. The puddles in the back yard had whitecaps.
One radio station managed to stay on the air, off and on, through the typhoon. The two songs I remember hearing, over and over, were Riders on the Storm, and Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head.
