Ukraine: The Democratic Party’s effort to overthrow the elected government

In the past two weeks the mainstream media, working for the Democratic Party, has blasted us with a new anti-Trump scandal, accusing the president of using his influence during a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to pressure the Ukraine to instigate an investigation of Joe Biden.

As I usually do with big political stories such as this, I let them play out a bit before drawing some conclusions. I will admit that I immediately thought this was all balderdash, comparable to the same fake accusations against Trump in connection with Russian collusion. Those were never creditable, and after almost two years even Robert Mueller, the FBI hack chosen by DC insiders to frame Trump, found he had no evidence and came up empty.

The Trump-Ukraine accusations seemed at first glance to be the same garbage, but I decided to watch and wait, to see if they had substance.

Not surprisingly, they don’t.

First we have the accusation itself, coming from an anonymous whisteblower. Not only is the accuser anonymous, so are all his or her sources. All.

Even more significant, the accusation is not based on first hand knowledge. The accuser was not witness to Trump’s phone call. His claim is based entirely on hearsay and rumor, which would be laughed out of any court in the land. That anyone in the press is taking these accusations seriously based on this evidence proves they are, as Glenn Reynolds often says, merely Democratic operatives with bylines.

Second, soon after the press and the Democrats (I repeat myself) began to make a big deal about this feeble accusation, Trump went ahead and released the transcript of his conversation.

The transcript shows absolutely nothing scandalous. Trump asks the Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden’s threat to cancel a billion dollar loan guarantee to Ukraine if they didn’t fire the prosecutor investigating Biden’s own son Hunter for corruption, a threat that Biden himself has openly bragged about. Trump isn’t asking for any personal favors, he is doing his job as president. Moreover, at no time in the conversation does Trump threaten Ukraine if they don’t follow through. If anything, it appears both he and Ukraine’s leader Zelensky are in agreement from the start, both eager to clean out the rampant corruption that appears to be everywhere in the governments of both countries. (In fact, this was one of the central planks in Zelensky’s campaign. Like Trump he was an outsider, as Zelensky himself says during the conversation, elected “to drain the swamp.”)

The conversation itself makes the whistleblower’s accusations [pdf] look absurd. The whistleblower accused Trump of putting pressure on Zelensky. He does not. The whistleblower says the Trump administration tried to bury the transcript. Trump instead releases it to the public. The whistleblower accuses Trump of initiating a legal attack on Biden, his political opponent. Though this last point has some truth, there is also ample evidence that such an investigation is justified, evidence that the whistleblower outlines himself in detail in his complaint.

Finally, the similarity of this story with the Russian collusion accusations convinced me it was garbage and should be dismissed. In both cases the accusations were absurd and quite flimsy. In both cases the accusations came from either anonymous or partisan sources that also appear very untrustworthy. And in both cases, as more evidence was uncovered the more untrustworthy those accusations appeared.

To escalate this story to an impeachment trial is beyond absurd. It borders on an effort by the Democrats to overturn the results of a legal election, for no cause but their desire for power. As far as they are concerned, elections and our Constitution are trash, and should be thrown out to allow them to rule unopposed, forever.

Making this story even more disturbing is what it tells us about Washington and the unelected bureaucracy there. Too many in the federal government still refuse to accept the results of the 2016 election, and too many appear aggressively willing to take any action to overturn it. The will of the majority means nothing to them.

For example, prior to this year no whistleblower could file a complaint unless they had direct knowledge of the misconduct. Hearsay was properly excluded, because that is mere rumor and gossip, and in the world of politics can too easily be abused.

However, mere weeks before the whistleblower filed his complaint, the Intelligence Community Inspector General Michael Atkinson revised the rules, allowing hearsay complaints to be filed.

This change, counter to every legal rule, allowed this hearsay accusation to be filed. Moreover, it allowed the complaint to include a large number of unsubstantiated accusations by a number of anonymous sources, all of whom work for the government and all of whom are apparently hostile to Trump and want him gone.

Some of these same people it appears tried this same tactic with the Russian collusion scam, and failed. It now appears they are trying it again with Ukraine, and the Democrats in the House are running with it to instigate impeachment proceedings. They want Trump removed from office, even though he was duly elected by the American people, according to law.

This particular story also illustrates something that to me has become very obvious: Every Democratic accusation against Trump or the Republicans is nothing more than projection. Whenever they falsely charge a conservative with some criminal or traitorous act, you can be damn sure that with only a little digging you will find that it is something they themselves have actually done.

Trump is colluding with Russia! Take a look at the Obama-Clinton deal to give Russia control of 20% of our uranium resources in exchange for cash.

Trump won’t accept the results of the 2016 election! Take a look at everything Clinton and the Democrats have done to “resist” Trump since 2016.

Trump is illegally pressuring Ukraine! Take a look at Biden’s threatened extortion of Ukraine, and the gobs of cash his son Hunter obtained in what appears to be a very corrupt deal.

I could go on. Time after time, when a Democrat accuses Trump or a Republican of some improper action, I guarantee if you are willing to take a look honestly you will find that it is because the Democrat has already done it.

Two points in conclusion. First, the impeachment coup now being undertaken by the Democrats in the House, based on no creditable evidence, is unfortunately something the American people voted for in 2018. The slanderous and power-hungry nature of this Democratic Party was made blatantly obvious during the Kavanaugh hearings, though that behavior had been on-going for years.

Yet, the American people rewarded the Democrats for that behavior by giving them control of the House of Representatives. No one should therefore be surprised by the Democratic impeachment effort. Too many Americans today are all for dictatorial rule, violence for the sake of power, and an end to our Constitution and the Bill of Rights. They voted for it in 2018, and the Democrats are merely giving them what they want.

Those of us who believe in freedom, the rule of law, and Constitutional government had better come to grips with this reality. We are possibly no longer the majority in this country, and might have fight hard to retain our freedom and rights.

Second, President Trump and the Republicans are only getting what they deserve, because they continue to act like wimps when faced by this bureaucratic resistance. Trump is head of the executive branch. He has the power, by law, to fire anyone working for him. Heads should have rolled in great numbers years ago. They have not.

Furthermore, while the Democrats always move fast with their fake accusations, the Republicans seem to take forever to follow through, if at all, with their own counter efforts. For example, the inspector general outlined how former FBI director James Comey broke the law in releasing classified information. The Trump administration decided not to prosecute. Similarly, in April 2018 the inspector general recommended criminal prosecution of former FBI official Andrew McCabe. So far no prosecution has taken place.

I could cite numerous other examples of Democratic malfeasance that the Republicans decided to look the other way. The list is sadly endless.

Trump’s allies often say they like him because he fights. I agree. More than any other Republican in decades, Trump fights, refusing to back down to Democratic demands. At the same time, I also think he does not fight hard enough, allowing his opposition to repeatedly get away with illegalities that would put any Republican in prison in minutes.

Until this changes, expect more malfeasance and power grabs by the Democrats. They will take whatever power they can, even if it means destroying the country.

    Everything is as it should be: Know the game, play the game, win the game.

    The Democrats are backed into a corner and they understand that if they do not spin or divert in some manner this Biden blatant extorion of the Ukrainians for the sake of his son, which he proudly proclaimed in his ego maniacle, Biden Jackass stage performance which the public has seen and clearly understands, then they are cooked. Biden can not un-say what he said.

    The Democrats next best choice as of this moment is Elizabeth warren, and that is just going nowhere. And if the choices they currently have remain, its all over.

    Trump releasing the transcripts was a weak move IMO. I suppose he was attempting to short circuit the Democrats. All that means IMO is the he sees Biden as the only reasonable contender.

    Who will emerg? Bloomberg? Bloomberg thinks that president for life Xi is not a dictator. He is a Communist and just made himself president for life, and he is not a dictator in Mr. Bloomberg’s opinion. That should go well in his campaign. (What is this man thinking?)

    Things are as they should be.

    Great rant Bob. My thoughts to a T. This makes me ask “What makes a country great?” Each country has its own great scenery, but that does not make the country great. Some countries have strong economies, but that does not make it great. I have meet folk from a number of countries with mixed feeling. Peoples attitude tends to be related to the governance of their country and here, might lie the real answer.

    A country that respects and protects their citizens makes a country great, IMHO. Canada was once a great country, yet still might return. Kicking out a corrupt government would be a step in the right direction. However, with rights, there must be acceptance of other citizen’s rights. Canadian rights have been trounced upon as have citizen rights in Sweden, known by some as the rape capital of the world due to the immigrant policies.

    The constitution of the USA, as written, holds the key to American greatness. Take that constitution away and—–one could ask what happens to greatness.

    The points you bring out lead me to beleive the left care little for law and order, as defined with the constitution as a basis.

    Here are some of your points which emphasis this:

    American greatness will be defined in your 2020 election as will Canada’s 2019 October election. I am astounded that these items, you addressed, have the support of even a few! Our future, even the worlds future, lies in these two pending elections. If we fall to leftism, we are doomed. If politicians on both sides have their hands in the cookie jar, we are doomed. Trump, for all his flaws, does not need the money from corrupt government dealings.

    This one fact may be what both sides are worried about.

    The whistleblower accused Trump of putting pressure on Zelensky.

    The choice of words here is important. Notice that everyone in the media are using the same word, pressure. Pressure implies nefarious intent and also attacks the credibility of anything that comes from it, like a confession made under duress. This is a two pronged attack, something I like to call next best outcome or cascading wins. There is a main objective but they are planning several steps ahead.

    The whistleblower says the Trump administration tried to bury the transcript.

    Here again we see the Democrats planing things out several steps in advance. Post-Mueller, Democrats started saying that Trump was obstructing investigations, not the SC but congressional investigations into misdeeds they hadn’t identified yet. They started making these accusations early so that they can then say there is a pattern. Also, they may not have intended this next part from the beginning, but this is what they have done.

    1- Leaked classified conversations and other material.
    2- Trump places the information in a more classified system to cut down on who has access.
    3- Democrats say that placing the material out of reach of their leakers is obstructing justice and he should be impeached.

    Every Democratic accusation against Trump or the Republicans is nothing more than projection.

    This is an age old tactic. Democrats do it all the time. It isn’t projection, as that is a subconscious act. It is a deliberate tactic. Accusing the other party of what you are doing muddies the waters. Generally, the group that makes the first accusation is the one that is believed and the group that makes the counter claim looks less credible. This is why it is important for the Democrats to get our first with these accusations. Its behavioral science.

    Example, two kids arguing and are interrupted by an adult. The first kid responds saying the other kid is lying. Then the other kid says, “No you’re lying!” What does the adult think in this situation? Both are lying? One is lying? Or maybe they just don’t care to figure it all out. One of the kids is lying and the other isn’t but the waters have been muddied.

    Seeing this whole business, the spying on Trump’s campaign, the dossier, the Russian collusion frameup, the emails from Wikileaks (source never revealed, although CrowdStrike, mentioned in Trump/Zelensky transcript, said it was the Russians through analysis of Fancy Bear hacking program the Russians used to destroy Ukrainian artillery, but after Ukraine said it never happened, CrowdStrike amended their interpretation.     There does appear to have been some kind of coup attempt involving CIA, FBI, CIA and perhaps some members of the Obama administration. It may not have been organized enough to call it a coup, but they were trying to keep Trump from winning the election, and also attempting to delegitemize his administration prior to impeachment. The hope was Mueller would indict Trump and then they could go ahead with impeachment, but the Mueller investigation didn’t show anything that warranted impeachment. Now they’re generating a scandal and it will be treated as a treasonous, horrendous scandal by the media, the Democrats and Trump malcontents, people kicked out of his administration for one thing or another.
    This impeachment is going to be carried forward, I think they’ve reached the point of no return.
    Whether they will succeed is anybodies guess at this point. If it was a regular trial, probably it wouldn’t go anywhere and would be thrown out by most judges, but Nancy Pelosi said she was going to do an official impeachment inquiry. The media has picked up on it, so they’re going to do it.
    People seem to be surprised that the Democrats are proceeding with impeachment proceedings. That’s the wrong attitude. It’s been expected since the 2016 election. The Democrats were desperate to win that election and with each Supreme Court appointment, they become more desperate, willing to take more risks, with the stakes going up, becoming existential.
    This is the confrontation between Capitalism, free market economics, and Freedom itself, and Marxist ideology, Progressivism, Socialism and Communism.
    The Media is overwhelmingly Democrat, and even more, progressive. They refer to themselves as progressive, although observes refer to them as leftist.
    Marxist ideology refers to production, Karl Marx’s book “Das Kapital”, referring to production, means of production and labor. Capitalism and individual freedom, at least in modern times, refers to demand.
    Marxim controls production, through controlling labor and capital. Free Market Capitalism refers more to demand, that if goods are produced, there is someone who wants them, and willing to buy them with a profit going to producers and sellers.
    That seems to be what the Green New Deal was about, controlling everything, not letting people buy what they wanted but controlling production and limiting demand.
    As the Democrats become more desperate, expect more and more intensity, and certainly there will be an attempt to impeach Trump out of office, and if it doesn’t succeed, it will be the stepping stone taking off for the 2020 Presidential election. It doesn’t really matter who the Democratic candidate will be. Probably one of the 20 or so candidates. I doubt Biden will be there, but if he is, the Democrats will give him 100% support, you can bet on it.
    They don’t really care who the Democrat candidate or nominee is, they only know they have to beat Trump.
    Expect Democrats to give 100%. I’m not sure Republicans are up to 100% across the board. There’s a lot of people who don’t share Trump’s populist ideals, reducing government, national borders, best deal for America’s jobs and industry, and trying to get some kind of affordable health care while letting people keep private insurance rather than forcing universal health care or medicare for all.

    How does a group in our government keep power even after losing a presidential election?

    Appoint someone to ensure that supporters in every office and branch of government are promoted ahead of those suspected of supporting the other guys.

    Thousands of promotions a year can be made and after 8 years you have the majority of every office still doing your bidding quietly behind the scenes.
    As government union employees they are protected from most political accusations and removal from work.

    This sounds even to me as some huge paranoid conspiracy theory.
    But just how many low level “informants” have to come out before this starts to sound credible?

    How could we legally find out who these people are and how could we get rid of them legally before they do any damage?

    I say we send in loyal ferrets into every office to seek out these left overs from previous administrations then re-assign then to places like Montana and Alaska.

    I have come to believe, after almost 3 complete years of despicable “impeachment-directed” behavior by the Jackasses, that the for-profit firms hired making up “their” portion of the Political-Industrial Complex (data, polling, “ground work,” etc), must be repeatedly whispering in select Democrat ears, that “NONE of your starting 23 candidates – now shrunken to 10, will likely beat Trump in 2020. Conversely, ANY of them will likely beat Pence.

    Meanwhile, the Educational-Industrial Complex graduates another yearly class of philosophical collectivists, who find freedom and capitalism morally repugnant and politically evil.

    Zman: This is the system that we have to work within, and as soon as it is determined that we are no longer working within it there are remedies. You may not like where we find ourselves, and you may not like the remedies, but there are remedies. Political warfare continues, always.

    “So things are as they should be.” And if that means that our system has gone astray in a percentage of the populations mind then so be it.

    Its like arguing that, Trump is a dictator.

    The difference is that Trump WANTS to be a dictator, just like every other president that has ever held the office. That is human nature. What stops them all from actually being dictators? Just one thing, The Constitution and the parameters of operation that it draws. Choose to search for the edge of the evelope of acceptable presidential or Congressional exercize of power and that is fine. However, you may have a problem. All presidents (And Congress) WANT to be dictators but the rules of the Constitution do not allow them from doing so by the existence of the other counter balancing forces that structure and constrain it all.

    So, again, you may not like where the country has gone, too close on both sides over the edge of acceptable Constitutional behavior, but that is where we have been delivered.

    It is stated clearly in the Preamble: to “secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.” It is the respect for and protection of liberty that allows Americans to do so much more than other countries allow their own citizens. This freedom and the resulting ability to get ahead has been the main draw for tens of millions of immigrants, over the centuries.

    Canada was once a great country, yet still might return. Kicking out a corrupt government would be a step in the right direction.

    Corruption is a major deterrent for liberty and an impediment to greatness. It enriches only a few, and at great expense to everyone else. Corruption and the tyranny that comes with it is why many countries fail to become great.

    American greatness will be defined in your 2020 election as will Canada’s 2019 October election.

    American greatness was defined in our 2008 election, which resulted in America being fundamentally transformed into a corrupt place in which the government now influences elections and gets away with efforts to overturn results that it disagrees with. Where is the liberty in that?

    It became corrupted into coercing its population as to what to buy, and believes itself also the director of what we do, say or are, just so long as the government associates a tax with those dictates. Where is the liberty in that?

    We are no longer a nation of laws, where the law applies equally to all, but a nation of men, where a Trump employee can be driven to bankruptcy and to plead guilty to a lie he did not commit, while favored Democrats commit multiple felonies or corruption with impunity. Where is the liberty in that?

    At this point, it will take decades to get back to the liberties we had in 2007, assuming it is not too late.
